Earlier this week a 1.14 carat, £12,000 diamond was attached to a helium balloon and launched into a field from Derbyshire as part of a PR stunt by jeweller 77 Diamonds.
The most exciting part? The diamond was then dropped 100,000 feet from space, landing in a mystery location somewhere in a small village in Lincolnshire.
You heard right. Said £12,000 diamond is currently at large in the Great British countryside – and it’s officially finders keepers. Tobias Kormind, founder of the company, had the following to say:
‘Whoever finds our diamond really does get to keep it, so we are encouraging the general public to go out and start searching for it.’
You heard him sparkle lovers, that’s officially your call to action!
