Is there a single word on this planet that can best describe mothers? No, right? Kind, giving, warm, nurturing, encouraging…we can go on and on about them but our list of finite adjectives would never suffice. Unfortunately, our life’s changing priorities and the regular addition of societal pressures and expectations leave all the love we have for our mums somewhere behind. Eventually, we forget to appreciate the angelic human that brought us to this world.
But fret not, its never too late to restart! You don’t even have to wait for Mother’s Day! In fact, you CAN give your mamma all the love she needs today! All you need is GRATITUDE. It might sound like you’ve heard this already but gratitude for the littlest of things like whatever your mother does for you and your family every day, her features (you’ve got some of those too!), her nature, etc would help you acknowledge how wonderful she is. And what follows is immense love, respect, acceptance and warmth regardless of you daily, overpowering routine.
So, here are some reasons why you should adore your mum everyday:
For starters, she made us in a process that takes a toll on her entire body. Pregnancy brings about irrevocable changes in a woman’s body. Some even suffer from different kinds of pain (backache in most cases) for a long time after their pregnancy! She may make you believe that being a mother is easy, but in reality; she has given up a lot for this role. No, don’t you even think of feeling guilty about this! Instead, respect her for that. Feel grateful. Thank the universe/God for sending someone like her, and your dad, on earth to give you life. Warmth and unconditional love would follow effortlessly!
Many times, when we’re in an argument with our mothers, we tend to focus more on what they lack. Arguments may be healthy, but if such highlighting of negativities persists, it may lead us to forget about all the good things about her! Check if any weakness is really that deserving of your attention. If not, look for what’s amazing about her. This will help you feel more grateful for her and admire who she already IS rather than for what she isn’t.
Her Healthy Criticism
The amazing thing about mothers is that their criticism is motivated by the desire to see us do well in life. They don’t want to hurt or demean us. This is the reason why when she points out something wrong in us or in what we are doing, it motivates us to do better instead of discouraging us.
Her Efficient Motivation
How is it possible that even in the darkest of times, a mere tap on the shoulder by one’s mother makes all the stress fly away? We have all witnessed that “everything will be alright, my child” look on our mum’s faces, haven’t we? Remember that comforting hug you received when you came out of the closet? Or when you went through your first breakup as a teen? Or when you told her about your financial troubles? Oh, and when it comes to cheerleading, no one can compete with mums. Period.
The advices that come our way, powered by our mothers’ experience of life, are absolutely incomparable! It’s never too late to fall in love with her wrinkles that are nothing but marks of all that she’s faced and triumphed in life. She’s always been one hell of a strong woman.
Her Cooking Skills
Can anyone make hash-browns better than your momma? Nope. And that amazing traditional pie? Nopity nope. Mothers spend a huge chunk of their lives trying to efficiently craft the best delicacies with love and generosity. When it comes to working women, its pure magic how they balance home and work! Now, we wouldn’t deny how their husbands help them out in this as well.
Whether it’s a girl or a boy, mothers cleverly teach immeasurable values to their children as they grow up. They do it so effortlessly that we don’t even realize that we’ve learnt a lot about life from them while simply living! So, the next time someone praises you for your good habits and tendencies, know that your mother is a huge reason behind it.
Being Your Super-heroine Even Before Wonder Woman & Captain Marvel
No one. We repeat. No one can multitask like our mammas! Whether they’re working moms or homemakers, they are all so good at handling multiple facets of a woman’s life that at times, we wonder if they’re even human beings! They could be secret goddesses for all we know! Protective, strong, caring, guiding, loving, motivating, encouraging; they are a mix of everything that defines super-heroes and heroines. No wonder, they deserve some appreciation for these “super powers”, don’t they?
