The British Fashion Awards (BFAs) descended on London last night (December 1st), showcasing some gorgeous outfits sported by the who's who of the fashion world. As well as handing out well-deserved awards to some of the biggest names in fashion, the red carpet was positively buzzing with style.
Previous awards have focussed on industry insiders but over the last few years, fashion has gone hand-in-hand with celebrity, which means some of our favourite stars attended the ceremony and even walked away with prizes.
One award recipient was none other than the queen of the little black dress, Victoria Beckham, who not only picked up the prize for Best Fashion Label, but also looked amazing.
Among the usual revealing evening gowns that walked the red carpet, Victoria stood out for all the right reasons in an outfit that showed that high fashion can be functional.
Her chic monochrome maxi skirt would have felt right at home as part of an elegant dress, draping her trim figure perfectly while the soft pleats added a lot of movement. With a side slit, the former Spice Girl still managed to show off her legs without going over-the-top.
However, the main functional aspect of her ensemble had to be the black knitted top she wore with the skirt. We've no doubt that London was chilly last night so Victoria's choice was perfect for the weather while also standing out for all the right reasons.
The simple black cable knit jumper had three-quarter-length sleeves and a high neckline, meeting with all the knitwear trends of AW14. However, her jumper wasn't all that it seemed as the back opened up in a cross over design, showing off Victoria's toned and tanned back and displaying a touch of bling in the form of a gold chain.
She finished the look off with a simple pair of black shoes and a bit of sparkle in the form of her gorgeous pear-shaped diamond ring – just one of the engagement rings given to her by husband David.
Another look we loved at the awards was Emma Watson, who also opted for sophisticated monochrome. Attending to pick up the award for Best British Style, the Harry Potter star has become a well-known face in the fashion world for her on-trend ensembles and repeat presence at catwalk shows.
The 24-year-old showed that she has picked up some advice over the years as her outfit was absolutely perfect in terms of meeting with AW14's trends and suiting her body shape.
She arrived on the red carpet wearing a long, black tuxedo-style jacket with the sleeves pushed up to her elbows. Mimicking many of the men that attended the BFAs, Emma's jacket featured contrast lapels, teaming a shiny finish with the overall matte look of the coat.
Once she made her way inside, Emma got rid of the jacket to reveal a stunning white jumpsuit underneath. The jumpsuit featured a low V-shaped neckline created by the halter neck design, which worked perfectly with her slight frame to create an hourglass figure when teamed with the fitted waist.
While the top of Emma's jumpsuit was very fitted, the trousers were wide-legged and loose-fitting, creating a great contrast and resulting in a great amount of movement.
Her whole look was completed with a touch of bright red lipstick, soft eye makeup and a pair of pointy black shoes that you just caught a glimpse of every now and then when she walked. The ensemble proved that her award was well-deserved.
