Yesterday (Sunday April 3rd) was the night of the annual Olivier Awards, which were held in London at the stunning Royal Opera House. One of the biggest nights for thespians, the awards gave starlets a reason to get glammed up to the nines.
One actress who really shone as she stepped onto the red carpet was Gemma Arterton, who was nominated for Best Actress in a Play for her role in Nell Gwynn. Although she lost out on the award to Denise Gough, Gemma certainly looked like a star on the night.
She chose to wear a floor-length purple gown that featured sequin embellishments over the top and throughout the skirt. While the sequins ran in straight lines down the skirt, they curved over the top and around Gemma’s waist, highlighting her curvaceous figure.
Adding even more elegant bling to her ensemble, Gemma’s dress featured a number of gemstone embellishments in different shades of purple and gold. The overall effect was beautiful, adding a lot of texture to the simple silhouette.
Contrasting the fitted design of the dress, the actress’ sleeves were made from a flowing sheer fabric, which was gathered at her wrists. This created a slightly Grecian look that was still beautifully modern.
Gemma kept the rest of her look simple, opting for a soft smoky eye that added a subtle vampy edge to her ensemble. She wore her dark brown tresses down in a straight and chic bob that still worked well with her high neckline.
The finishing touch for Gemma’s outfit was her silver earrings, which were reasonably simple but helped to elevate the look. The drop style flashed against her dark hair as she walked the red carpet and worked perfectly with the cool colour of her dress.
