The late May bank holiday falls this coming Monday and most of us are treated to whole 3 days off work! So, if lying in bed with a boxset is your initial plan, scrap it – there’s too much happening to stay indoors.
We here at TJC understand how precious weekends are, so when we get an extra day off, we try to make them count, and so should you! As a result, we’ve decided to put together a guide for our lovely new and loyal customers from different cities in the UK and fill you in on some fun and funky things to get up to in your hometown.
So perch up… spending all day in bed does sound inviting but, your bank holiday is about to become a lot better!
Check our list of interesting on things happening in your city…
Take a trip into London this weekend and over Bank Holiday and visit the brand new Star Wars collection at Madame Tussauds (Baker Street). You don’t need to be a die-hard fan to appreciate this British favourite film though, so head on down to Madam Tussauds and experience a stunning exhibition including 16 lifelike characters and 11 expertly finished iconic film sets. This is a great outing for everyone in the family or for a laidback daytime date.
If anything involving Star Wars is definitely not your type of thing, how about an outdoors event? Try Alchemy an Asian food festival at Southbank, London and also in Manchester. Delve into cultural dishes from countries such as Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. Enjoy authentic cultural acts as well as free activities, so don’t miss out, Monday is the last day to experience this colourful market.
If you live in Glasgow or have booked a long weekend trip to Scotland, there are loads of things to keep you occupied over the bank holiday. Head over to the Ideal Home Show if you’re looking for brand new ways to revamp your house. Or, make this weekend an easy going one with a visit to Glasgow Science Centre, enjoy a journey into space at one of the world’s best planetariums and chill out watching live constellations.
Birmingham is a great city known for its incredible city centre, but, apart from enjoying a great shopping and dining experience at the Bullring, why not enjoy an unusual experience at the Super Spa Cinema? Although, not open this Bank Holiday book into this pop up Cinema and watch your favourite films from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s while relaxing in a private hot tub with drinks and snacks! Don’t miss out and book in advance, then use your Monday off to fully recharge your batteries before returning to work!
You can’t call yourself a real Liverpudlian if you’ve never visited the Maritime Museum! Make sure not to miss its new exhibition which features new Sail Away Shipping posters most of which have never been seen before… If you have time make a day of it and go on to visit the International Slavery Museum which sits right next to it! Make this weekend an educational one, after all Liverpool was the UK’s biggest transatlantic slave ports.
If you love illusions then there’s only one place for you this Bank Holiday, and that is Newcastle! Well… maybe a 10 miles away from Newcastle, at Sunderland’s Empire to watch Derren Brown’s one man show: Miracle.
Last on our list is Nottingham, if weather permits, this bank holiday weekend, attend Nottingham’s first ever Food and Drink Festival. A sure place to be for all you foodies out there!
