She's known for her portrayal of several characters on American Horror Story and often ends up looking battered, bruised and bloodied on screen. However, there was no sign of her creepy portrayals as Sarah Paulson hit the red carpet for the 36th annual College Television Awards in Los Angeles on Thursday April 23rd.
The 40-year-old actress was all glamour and grace as she arrived at the awards in a stunningly ornate dress. Her partially-sheer black dress featured a high peter pan collar and loose, sheer sleeves.
The panel of sheer fabric over the shoulders showed off an intricate floral pattern in black, adding a contrasting texture to the loose fabric. The rest of the dress was opaque but showcased a gorgeous vintage-style pattern in dark gold.
This pattern introduced colour and a little bit of sparkle to the outfit. While the use of so much pattern in one dress could look heavy on some, Sarah managed to pull it off perfectly.
To stop the flowing fabric of the dress from swamping her svelte frame, the actress cinched it in with a black and gold belt at the waist, showing off her shape.
She also carried a simple gold box clutch that fit with the look without being too much. The finishing touch was a pair of pointed black court shoes, which were shown off as the dress only fell to her ankles.
With her outfit so on-point, Sarah kept her makeup subtle, opting for a filled grow, soft eyes and a nude lip while her blonde bob was brushed back from her face.
When it came to jewellery, the 12 Years a Slave actress managed to add a bit of glitz without it looking too much. She showed off a pair of gold stud earrings that featured a touch of texture through their simple design. These worked with the gold of her dress perfectly.glitz without it looking too much. She also wore a statement gold ring – similar to this Karis Yellow Gold Bond Statement Ring – on her right hand, opting to feature it on her index finger rather than the middle finger.
All in all, Sarah's look really stood out among the usual red carpet attire and she was the most glam celeb at the event.
Could you pull off her heavily patterned look?
