Rose gold – super trendy right now and a big must for all you fashionistas out there. Most trends come and go in a flash, but you’ll find that gold and now rose gold is here to stay for a while. We love the metallic warm hues of rose gold – not too glitzy with the right amount of zing.
Up-to-the-minute rose gold (also known as pink gold) is created by mixing yellow gold with a small amount of copper and hey presto you get rose gold.
So where does it come from? Rose gold has been used decoratively for centuries but was made popular in 19th century Russia, and hence was also know for a time as Russian gold. It’s popularity increased 10-fold on the 1920s when Cartier introduced the Trinity ring – a ring made of three intertwining yellow, rose and white gold bands. It has become more trendy as the years have gone on.
Why are we so in love with rose gold? Well two reasons really, we love that it’s so feminine when worn alone and then so edgy when you mix it up with other colour metals. By day, keep it simple and subtle with the odd piece of rose gold, maybe a ring or bracelet pairing it up with summery maxi dresses and beachwear. By night, rock the look with big explosive rose gold earrings – just like the beautiful Carrie Underwood. Stay away from a forced matchy-matchy look, rather blend rose gold with other metals, giving you fresh and funky look.
Have you added this super uber glam spring fashion trend to your jewellery box? If you haven’t, what are you waiting for? It’s time to match rose gold your shiny new BFF!
