You must’ve come across “Pantone Colour” a lot these days. The truth, however, is that it has been the buzzword of many for years now (18 years to be exact). So, what is it?
Pantone is an American corporation best known for its patented Pantone Matching System (PMS). The PMS acts as a fantastic aid and colour-standard for those involved in industries associated with, well, colours. These include manufacturers of paints, dyes, fabrics, garments, shoes, lifestyle products and those that can easily influence colour choices of the masses like film industries, fashion-world, interior designing, etc. While standardizing colours, the company examines prevalent preferences and demands to predict which colours are most likely to rule upcoming seasons. Hence, the declaration of the Colour Of The Year. And this year’s colour is *drumroll* CORAL!
Apart from the gorgeous marine red hue that took the top spot, some other colours were also highlighted as the “it” shades of 2019. Let’s find of what these are and how we can flaunt them this season:
Pantone ‘Living Coral’
A heart-melting, soft orange colour featuring cool-blue undertones blended effortlessly with some fiery red, this hue instantaneously evokes a sense of peace and vivacity, two contrasting terms that can only be associated with an ocean – the origin of the Coral species. The natural, soothing and enchanting colour works well in most forms be it make-up (can anything compete with coral shade blushers?), dresses, shoes and more. The colour goes well with any skin-colour and adds liveliness to any look. Pair a coral hued cardigan or a solid coloured tank top with a pair of denims and you’ll be acing this summer trend. Wish to try something different? A pretty and delicate wrist watch, bold pendant or handbag would be excellent for a subtle statement look. Our pleasing collection of Coral goodies will serve you just right for this purpose. Another great, and iconic, trick would be incorporating the colour into your makeup with a swipe on the cheeks or eye-lids.
Pantone ‘Lemon Verbana’
Fresh, citrussy and the “king” of Vitamin-C; lemon has always been the staple ingredient of people’s summer essentials be it in edible form or as an inspiration for sartorial choices. Undoubtedly, Pantone’s “Lemon Verbana” has been enlisted as one of the top choices of 2019. The warm, summery, bright hue effortlessly radiates happiness and freshness with its sunny and zingy yellowness that works with most colours and skin-tones. Freely pair it with various browns, greens, reds, blues in any style ranging from clothes to accessories like a hat or a wallet and rest assured that you cannot go wrong with this colour.
Pantone ‘Princess Blue’
What a beautifully rich colour! It’s the perfect melange of oceanic tranquillity with a dash of electricity and lots of power. This ingenious blend of cobalt and red is a royal colour aptly named “Princess Blue.” Bold and eye-catching to say the least, the dazzling hue is perfect for turtle-neck tops, dresses and sweaters. A solid blue scarf with little touches of the same colour here and there in the form of a fancy wrist-watch or a sharp & shiny manicure (try MAVALA’s BLUEBERRY – 343) would do justice to this stunning shade.
Pantone ‘Pressed Rose’
A bit similar to the go-to colour of 2017-18 – Millennial Pink, this pretty shade from the behemoth family of pink can still compete and stand-out with its gorgeous blue undertones that the former missed. Rich and cool toned, the dreamy colour gives way to amazing monochrome looks. A little tricky to match with other colours; it goes splendidly with grey, black and dirty-mustard. To test the waters, we suggest you begin with accessories like a scarf or a wallet and eventually graduate to bolder choices like a top as you get comfortable with its powerful feminine charm.
The ubiquitous ingredient of Indian food, turmeric has been an essential part of Indian culture since time immemorial. Interestingly, it’s not just a culinary item there. So vibrant and attractive is its deep yellow colour that it is often used as a colourant for traditionally made clothes and even as a part of face-masks to achieve a golden glow! Justifiably, turmeric colour has made it to 2019’s top colours’ list. The hue features a deep, ripe Indian mango base with bold oranges neutralized by the subtle undertones of red creating a fiery, optimistic and lively shade. It is super bright and almost fluorescent yet doesn’t daze the eyes. Heavenly when paired with black, fuchsia, magenta, rust-red, ultra-violet and sap-green to name a few; the colour gives you freedom to experiment. Try flaunting it with a solid coloured dress or a printed poncho for a distinct look. A subtle touch through a graceful tennis bracelet would be amazing too.
These incomparably stunning colours are to die for. We cannot contain our excitement thinking of various ways in which we can use them this Spring/Summer season! How are you planning to incorporate these colours into your look? Don’t forget to share in the comment section.
