No time for the nail bar this week? Not to worry it happens to us all, which is why it’s always handy to know how to achieve a salon perfect manicure from the comfort of your own home.
It’s all about the base. The key to achieving a great at home mani is all about prepping the base. Ensure your nail is clean, buffed and shaped.
Start with a thin base. A downfall to many hoping to achieve a luscious colour that lasts one whole week is not applying a base coat. Not only does a base coat protect the nail bed but it also prevents it from becoming stained.
Pick your colour. I’ve got a soft spot for pink hues, but as the weather has changed, switch your summer loved hues to something berry toned, or something a bit more autumnal. Once you’ve got your lacquer of choice, apply a two coats evenly in three strokes on each nail.
Finish with a top coat. Many believe that following these golden rules, but skipping on a top coat will still allow your manicure to last – it won’t. Once your nail lacquer has dried finish with thin layer of top coat to seal the deal of a high shine manicure!
Patience is a virtue. If you don’t have time to sit around and wait for your at-home manicure to dry, try a quick dry oil that you can finish your manicure with, while also nourishing your cutciles. However, we do advise painting your nails is the last thing you do in a day, so they dont smudge or smear.
Mavala’s our favourite. At TJC we have been loving Mavala’s colour options and one person who absolutely love’s it, is our presenter; Andrea! Here’s what she had to say:
“I love the mavala nails polishes. I have used so many different types of polish and none of them come close, they dry almost instantly and we have such a fantastic range and there’s always a different colour to suit my mood.”
So, if you’re wanting to achieve the perfect manicure at home, follow these rules and pick Mavala as your go-to polish of choice!
