Catch up with Carmel Thomas

Hello everyone! As you know the lovely Carmel has been with The Jewellery Channel a month now. So far we’ve had a fabulous time and we’re sure you have too. We asked Carmel to pop down some thoughts about her first month as well getting a little more insight into what makes Carmel tick!

Hi there!

I can’t believe I’ve been at The Jewellery Channel for a month now! The time has just flown by, but as they say time flies when you’re having fun.

I just wanted to write a little blog to introduce myself and to say thank you for all the support since I have started, it really has been a lovely welcome with all the kind messages I have received and especially from all the lovely crew, office staff, buyers, management and other presenters at TJC!

Carmel Thomas and familyWell as you probably know by now I’m Carmel, originally from Dublin and moved to the UK in 2000 and now live in London with my hubby Neil and our beautiful baby boy Flynn. So by day I’m a mummy changing nappies and running around after my little active monkey. At night I get to play dress up, put on some make up and go on air wearing and talking about the most beautiful jewellery I have ever seen.

I’ve been so lucky, being able to work with many new gemstones, like Larimar, Apatite, Alexite, Boi Ploi Black Spinel and Rhodochrosite. I’ve learnt so much in the last month, sometimes I feel like a walking gemopedia!

My all-time favourite gemstone has to be a diamond especially as I was born in April so it’s my birthstone. Saying that though, since starting at TJC I’ve fallen in love with Citrine, Sleeping Beauty Turquoise and Apatite – so fresh and summery! I think coming into the autumn and winter, Rubies and Emeralds will definitely be among my new favourites.emerald

So guess what? I’m doing my first morning show on Sunday 8th September. It’s Emerald Day so I’m super excited. I’m a bit of a night owl, so I’ll need to head to bed early as will have to be up at 3 a.m. get to the studio on time.

Make sure you come back regularly – I’ll be sure to keep you updated in all my latest news. Have a lovely weekend everyone and wish me luck for Sunday.

Lots of love
Carmel xxxx

  1. Hi Carmel,

It’s Sam from Dublin here. You look great Carmel and so happy.
I have watched your shows on the Jewellery Channel and really enjoy them.
Flynn is after getting so big….he must be nearly 9 months now ?
My little grandson will be 10 months in a few days….not sure if you remember me telling you about him when you were on qvc.

I wish you lots of luck in your new job and many years of happiness.
And lots of luck and love to you and your gorgeous family.

    Love Sam (Dublin)xxx

  2. I’m keeping myself out of the loop at the moment because, money is very, very tight and I’m so weak willed where TJC is concerned. So, I’m going to wish you, Carmel and all the other presenters (especially little Derek) a very merry Christmas and a happy new year and see you all in January!
Lots of love, Penny in Christchurch X X ★☆★

    1. Thanks very much for the good wishes Penny 🙂 We’ll be sure to pass on the message to everyone here at TJC. And a very merry Christmas to you too!
