I have been a huge fan of Jojoba from the moment I was first introduced to it on TJC many years ago and have used it ever since. I have particularly sensitive skin and can only use natural products so this is perfect for me. The great thing about it is that it is a multi use product that is totally effective.
What is it? Well, it is often referred to as a jojoba oil, but it isn’t an oil at all. It is a liquid wax known as a wax esther. It is remarkably similar to the wax esthers that make up 30 per cent of the sebum produced in healthy, young skin.
It cleanses and conditions skin pores and is readily absorbed into the skin and offers a natural moisturising and protective barrier. However, like a lot of our skin properties the natural liquid wax slows down after our 20’s which causes the moisture barrier to break down resulting in loss of plumpness and the skin starts to wrinkle and fold. The fine lines then start to appear. Is that a familiar story?
This is why Jojoba is so good at putting back into the skin what age has taken away.
The liquid wax produced by the jojoba plants mimics the molecules of the human skin and therefore when applied to your skin will follow a natural pathway penetrating deep into the skin where it is needed. It doesn’t block the pores so can be used by all skin types.
Jojoba is naturally antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, hypoallergenic and contains vitamins A,D and E and Omega 6 and 9 essential fatty acids,
What can it be used for? Well, it would almost be easier to name what it can’t be used for! It can be used on body, face, hands, cuticles, hair and lips. I use it throughout all the seasons and keep a small one in my travel bag so I’m never without it. It’s particularly good on my hands when dry in the winter and keeping them looking good on screen. My other half loves it for when he goes skiing for keeping lips hydrated. I recently burnt my arm on the
iron, not very clever I know, but after I’d put cold water over the area I immediately applied Jojoba and a few weeks later I have no scarring at all.
Pure jojoba can also be used on specific skin conditions like dermatitis, rosacea, acne, eczema, psoriasis, cold sores, sunburn and surgical wounds once they’ve healed.
When we have the big bottles in stock they are worth their weight in gold in my opinion. The feedback that we have had from viewers has been incredible with some tremendous stories of the results they have had from using it.
The whole family can use it no matter the skin type and it’s always worth having a bottle on the go so that if there is a sudden need for it, over and above the normal uses, you’ll know what to go for!
