Refresh your wardrobe with styles inspired by the Orient

Style inspired by the orient is fast becoming the trend of the moment. After its last major appearance in 2012/2013 it is now appearing not only in our favourite high street stores but also being worn by our favourite celebs!

The American socialite event  – Met Gala (May 2015) is a perfect example of the emergence of style inspired by the Orient. The theme of the night was ‘China – through the looking glass’ where amazing and iconic looks worn by our all time favourite celebs on the red carpet. Although not a British event many of us took to social media and scoured the newspapers and magazines to see iconic looks that were the talk of the town – to say the very least!

The most celebrated looks of the night were worn by Rihanna, Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Kardashian who seemed to take on the theme whole heartedly with revealing, sensual and quite frankly OTT ensembles – Rihanna even admitted her outfit had been handmade by one Chinese lady for 2 years!

Their ensembles included motifs associated with the orient such as dragons, butterflies, fire, lilies, blossom trees and beautiful colourful stones and brocade.

We here at TJC have definitely been inspired by the Met Gala theme and already have key pieces that you can wear to keep up with the celebs and incorporate this playful trend in minimal ways to refresh your wardrobe.
