Wedding guest fashion tips that won’t fail

If you’ve had wedding invitations fall through your letterbox this season, you’ll need to find the perfect outfit. Not only do you want to feel great when watching those you love tie the knot, you also need to ensure that you look the part, especially when you consider the fact you’ll end up in their wedding photos.

This means ensuring you find the perfect wedding guest outfit to suit the event as well as your style. Luckily, we have some great advice to help you pick out the perfect ensemble.

Stick to your style

One of the easiest ways to ensure you are comfortable in what you’re wearing is to stick to your usual style but smarten it up a bit. This doesn’t mean wearing jeans and a T-shirt, but picking items of clothing that you don’t feel out of place wearing.

Not feeling happy and comfortable in your outfit can mean that you don’t really enjoy the day so avoid wearing something that takes you out of your comfort zone. So long as you look smart, you’ll be ready for a wedding.

Pay attention to the dress code

A lot of couples put their dress code on their wedding invitations, so you should ensure you wear something that fits with this. The bride and groom have gone through a lot of trouble to create their perfect day so it is only good manners to follow their wishes.

Don’t clash or match

If you know what colours the wedding day will feature, it is a good idea to wear colours that don’t match and won’t clash. Matching the colours can make it seem as though you are a member of the wedding party when you aren’t, while clashing will draw people’s eyes to you rather than the bride and groom.

Opt for complementary shades and patterns that aren’t too bold or over-the-top. This will help you look good but ensure you aren’t stealing the limelight.

Wear practical shoes

Wedding guests need to do a fair bit of walking and dancing, so you’ll be on your feet a lot of the day. You may have a pair of high heels that look fab, but if you can’t wear them all day without being in pain, they aren’t good for a wedding.

Stick to comfortable shoes that are broken in so won’t rub, pinch or hurt your feet. This will ensure you can dance the night away even after hours of posing for photos. Of course, you can always pop a small pair of flats in your bag to replace your heels later on if you don’t want to give them up.

Add detail

If you’ve got more than one wedding to go to but only have a single suitable wedding outfit, make it look different by changing up your details. Wearing different jewellery and accessories can help your outfit look fresh every time you step out in it.

For one wedding, you can wear something like this White Austrian Crystal Waterfall Necklace and then swap it for a different statement piece – like these Peacock Triplet Quartz, Blue Diamond and White Diamond Earrings – at the next wedding.

It can also be a good idea to wear a different jacket, shoes and handbag to help keep your outfit totally fresh.
